IMAGINE LIVING WITHOUT A PLAN

Consider the wishes you had. The goals you set. And the hopes you carried. Not leaving out some prayers you prayed. Don’t you think you would’ve achieved, even if not all, some of your desires if you had planned what you believed you could achieve?

Chuck Knox said, “Always have a plan, and believe in it. Nothing happens by accident.”

Have you realized no one, not even your best friends, follows you just because you believe you can achieve a particular goal? Yes. People follow men with plans. And many more will attach to you if only you can act on them.

Can you imagine God creating the universe without a plan? Ouch. I’m sure it would’ve remained a dream. Why? Because there’s no stair to climb to that dreams fulfillment. And if at all it happens, it would’ve come with a lot of faults. Don’t be deceived. God lives by plan and honors those who plan. The level of perfection the universe carries can’t be as a result of guesswork. It was carefully woven. It was a consideration of a multitude of details. It was perfectly planned.

Even His salvation plan for humanity was defined long ago before execution. And men could believe it amid their doubts because it was clear enough. Andy Stanley, a pastor and an author, said, “God is a God of systems and predictability and order, and God honors planning.”  

If God wouldn’t act without first carving out a plan, no more can you do without it.

The highest proof that you believe something is the plan you have to show for it. The proof that a student believes he will graduate with first class or second class upper shows in his plan towards his research, personal and group studies, and lectures. Parents who believe their children will be great plan their growth. And fruitfulness in marriage isn’t a gift. It’s a result of planning.

A plan defines the when, where, and the steps you want to follow to achieve a particular goal. It’s the aid you need to convert your belief into action. A plan is like the stick in the hand of a cripple. By it, he’s able to dare to rise to action by trying to walk. Else he’ll only be full of wishes and belief but remaining at the same spot.

Think about it. What else could’ve brought the future we desire so close to us, to the extent we can make the changes we want, if not a plan? Allan Lakein, an author, said it well; “Planning is bringing the future into the present so that you can do something about it now.”

Men who believe also plan. Anything that’s visible today was once believed. But the crystallization of that belief into a plan made it even more real. The famous investor, Warren buffet once said, “Someone’s sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago.” A plan is the first step in making real a dream. Yes. It’s only when it can be planned, then it can be acted upon. Dreams are never hatched until there can be clearly defined plans regarding their execution.

A civil engineer doesn’t look on “belief” to work. He follows a plan. And when you want funding for your business, it isn’t your “belief” you present before the investor. As powerful as your belief may be, he isn’t interested in it. He wants to see the steps you’ve defined to follow to make the business fruitful so his investment wouldn’t burn. He inspects the business plan, not the “business belief.”

It’s time to be proactive. Give your life a feel of predictability. Give it some order. Plan it. Don’t just expect. Don’t just hope. Don’t just wish. Don’t just pray. Plan. Plan your life, plan your result. And as Jim Rhon said, “Never begin the day until it is finished on paper.”
